While The Pelican Travel Shop can provide a wide variety of travel services; our focus is on Faith Based Travel. While this would include Pilgrimages and Tours of religious shrines; for us it includes finding opportunities to attend religious services while on your vacation.
We ourselves particularly have enjoyed scenic train journeys and cruises, and believe you would to.

Between my wife Peggy and I, we've made numerous pilgrimages and other adventures beginning well before we had ever met and continuing together for 23+ years since. She had already been to the Holy Land (which I look forward to); and since we have visited numerous Catholic Shrines together both foreign and domestic. We joined with our parish on Pilgrimages to Rome, Assisi, Sienna, Lourdes, Fatima, Santiago de Compostello and numerous sites in France, Spain, Poland and Austria. We organized a few small groups to fly from San Antonio to Chicago/Milwaukee to visit Marytown, the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette, and numerous historic churches. We've enjoyed our own private drives to "The Holy Land of Kentucky", Our Lady of the Snows, the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal, and all of the California and San Antonio Missions.
We find train travel to be truly enjoyable, and always an adventure. There was the time our Sunset Limited journey had to stop early morning in California to allow them to inspect the tracks after an earthquake (better safe than sorry). The beautiful shoreline views on our Christmas journey on the Sunset Limited, followed immediately by the slowed down journey through a Winter Wonderland aboard the Empire Builder (who can object to extra time on a train moving along Glacier National Park?). A train ride takes away the stress of driving, while allowing you to see scenery you can't see from a car or plane.
While it's more costly, whenever we have an overnight trip you book sleeper car accommodations. Those will vary from a small roommette, a large family bedroom, or a bedroom with its own private bath and shower. It includes some delicious meals in the Dining Car.
We handle a wide assortment of cruises. Ocean or River, foreign or domestic. While we ourselves have recently sailed on the Caribbean through the Gulf of Mexico; we've also enjoyed a simple cruise of the Brazos River from Waco, a Christmas Cruise of the Ohio River from Cincinnati and a Riverwalk Cruise in San Antonio.
On our recent Ocean Cruise, we rarely noticed any motion. Peggy took the precaution of getting a patch for sea sickness, but wound up feeling it wasn't needed. While Premium Dining is available, there is plenty to eat with complimentary dining. Our own Excursions: of which there are usually many to choose from; included city tours with shopping, exploring ancient ruins and local culture, and snorkel diving. We had a great time, and suspect you would too.
Watch your family history come to life on a once-in-a-lifetime tailor-made travel experience.
We work with a few different Travel Insurance Companies in order to find a plan that best fits you.

Daniel and Peggy will be on the Pride of America sailing on March 18th. The cruise sails out of Honolulu while visiting Maui, Kauai and the "Big Island" Hawaii. We'll snorkel, attend a luau, visit Pearl Harbor and dodge volcanoes. Why not join us and friends as we watch whales leaving their winter home to head for Alaska (we'll see them in September).
Daniel and Peggy will be sailing to Alaska from Vancouver aboard the Grand Princess of Princess Cruise Lines. Along the way we'll be making port calls in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway; while sailing through Glacier Bay National Park and College Fjord. We'll take some time beforehand to explore Vancouver, and take some time at the end of the cruise to see more of Alaska. We're almost sure to spot some whales, perhaps some that we'll have seen in their winter home in Hawaii.

Journey through two days of extraordinary landscapes between Moab, Utah and Denver, Colorado. Vast canyons, inspiring deserts, natural archways and enchanting hoodoos are just a start. Available in SilverLeaf Service, this Rocky Mountaineer rail route is filled with highlights best seen by train, including Ruby Canyon, Mount Garfield and crossing the Continental Divide.
This is on our own bucket list, which we hope to take around April.
Peggy and Daniel enjoy traveling and planning for it. We've visited many sites, both foreign and domestic. We're happy to help with your travel; whether solo, family or with a group.
